blog3.29The man walks up, opens and walks through the door, and although clearly aware that there is someone behind him, lets the door slam in the person’s face.

The woman is clearly completely impatient when the less than seasoned traveler struggling with her things steps almost on top of her to get ahead in the security line.

The sweet looking senior couple who did not get seated together on the plane kindly ask a woman if she would be willing to move one seat back.  The woman scowls and replies, “No!”

The young person at baggage claim moves quickly from bewildered to anxious  as an airport employee just shrugs his shoulders when asked why her luggage was not there.

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, loving the Lord your God…” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Each and every day we are given the choice to live our lives as Easter people. I believe it is the most basic of human interactions that demonstrates if we are choosing to follow in the Way of Jesus in bringing new life to every situation and to every encounter.

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry recently explained that at the core, sin is about selfishness. If we proclaim that Jesus’ death and resurrection triumphs over sin and death, then it begs the question:

how are our lives demonstrating self-giving rather than self-centeredness, life-giving rather than life-taking?

 
Alleluia, The Lord is risen! The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!  May every choice we make, every action we take, proclaim our choice to live as Easter people.
