Serving Together: Missional Innovative Partnerships

Last week at our regularly scheduled meeting of judicatories (think Bishop types from a wide variety of denominations), I was invited to share about ECMN’s encouragement of Missional Innovative Partnerships.

To remind you:

Missional: As in being sent forth to accept and engage God’s mission.

Innovative: As in imagine – through dwelling in the Word and then discerning how the Holy Spirit is calling forth our unique gifts – implement and then reimagine.

Partnerships: As in building capacity through working with others who have discerned similar gifts and passions to meet the world’s needs.

The reality is that a number of our faith communities are already building capacity through partnerships with other faith communities from different faith traditions. Imagine there was an intentional, concerted effort from a number of faith traditions to serve together. Imagine, as well, if these partnerships expanded to include community organizations and agencies, schools and other non-profits. The potential impact in our local communities and contexts could be… transformative!

My intention is to continue to invite and encourage my fellow judicatories to invite and encourage faith communities in their faith traditions to join with ECMN in establishing Missional Innovative Partnerships.

Who is God inviting in your neighborhood to partner with in mission?
