Nothing like Christmas morning! Gifts from Santa, gifts from family and friends, gifts from co-workers and neighbors all blessed me on this joy-filled day.
Yet, the words from Virginia Satir’s poem ‘ Making Contact’ may truly speak to life’s greatest gift…
I believe
The greatest gift
I can conceive of having
From anyone
Is
To be seen by them,
Heard by them
To be understood
And
Touched by them
The greatest gift
I can give
Is
To see, hear,understand
And to touch
Another person
When this is done
I feel
Contact has been made
We are called to love God with all our heart, mind and soul and our neighbors as ourselves.
We commit in ourBaptismal Covenant to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being.
We are called and we commit to make contact – it’s a gift!
May the blessing of the New Year be the blessing of truly making contact with others.
