[From the Shattuck-St. Mary’s website] For the first time in more than 80 years, Shattuck-St. Mary’s officially inaugurated a new academic building on its historic campus. Fayfield Hall, named for its lead benefactor, Bob Fayfield ’58, was blessed and commemorated with music, speeches and a time capsule. Members of the Class of 2012 selected a variety of items for the time capsule, which will reside in Fayfield Hall until its opening in 2062 – their 50th Reunion.
Bob Fayfield addressed the crowd of about 500 people, including students,
faculty, alumni, trustees, friends from the community and those who worked
to make the building possible.
A strong proponent of STEM education, Mr. Fayfield encouraged students to
pursue studies and careers in engineering and sees Fayfield Hall as
a tangible way to show this support.
Fayfield Hall includes six new labs and a conference room. It is home to SSM’s
BioScience Center of Excellence.
