I am looking forward to our first annual Bishop’s Family Day: A Toolbox for Building a Christian Home, which will be held at St. Mark’s Cathedral on Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Working with Mary Lusk from St. Mark’s Cathedral and Mindy Boynton from Ascension, Stillwater, along with a host of clergy and faith formation leaders, I believe this special day will be a great way for families from across the Episcopal Church in Minnesota to get to know each other and support each other in family spiritual growth.
There will be workshops and events for parents, grandparents, friends, and children age 3 through 5th grade. Children 6th grade and older can register as “helpers” and there will be childcare for children ages 3 and younger.
So far, the workshops include:
Singing our Faith: Music for Lent and Easter
led by the Rev. Lydia Huttar Brown and Jennifer McNally
Honoring the Space: How to talk to children about personal safety
led by Alison Feigh
Blessings and other Simple Family Rituals
led by the Rev. Buff Grace and Mindy Boynton
Move and Play: Cooperative Games
led by Dave Sheldon and Mary McKelvey
Engaging in Sunday Liturgy and Beyond
led by the Rev. John Bellaimey and Nan Zosel
Additional options will include a labyrinth walk, art projects, and a Cathedral tour during the lunch break.
