If you have been following along…you know that I have been blessed to be a part of three wonderful commencements in the last few week. Seabury, Shattuck-St Mary’s and Breck are three of our oldest and finest faith communities in the Episcopal Church in Minnesota.
At their core, each one these institutions of formation embodies the words from A Litany of Thanksgiving “For minds to think, and hearts to love, and hands to serve…” (BCP 837). This is accompanied by the consistent message proclaimed at each commencement, that those graduating have been shaped in both tradition and innovation.
As we begin to explore what formation in the Episcopal Church in Minnesota will be for us, it will be imperative that we follow a similar model of providing an opportunity to be shaped in our tradition and open to innovation.
