Sitting there during the examination of Michael Hanley for Bishop of Oregon I thought of how quickly one moves from one position to another!
It was a blessing and a privilege to serve as a co-consecrating bishop for Michael’s Ordination and Consecration. It was obviously a great day for Michael and his family but also for the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. We were well represented with Bishop Jelinek as the preacher, Bronwyn Skov as a lector, and Theo Park serving as a litanist. There were also a number of friends and colleagues both from St Christopher’s and from across Minnesota.
In a few weeks I will be blessed yet again to represent you as I make the trip to be a part of Andrew Waldo’s Ordination and Consecration in Upper South Carolina. Knowing Andrew, this will be another grand occasion that may even involve good barbecue!
It is not going unnoticed that the Episcopal Church in Minnesota is filled with very competent clergy and lay leaders. This is so much so that many are called forth, such as Bronwyn, Michael, and Andrew to share their gifts for ministry with the larger Church. And while they are surely following God’s call in their vocations all of them will be greatly missed!
